Real Estate in Vienna – Fairfax County, VA

Vienna is a suburb of Washington, DC located in Fairfax County, Virginia.  Much of the charm of Vienna has withstood the test of time through the preservation of traditions and institutions that began years ago.  Although more than 15,000 people now call Vienna “home”, it looks and feels like a small town.

Families in search of that small town feel, while being within 15 miles of the nation’s capital, will find Vienna to be an ideal place to live.  The Fairfax County schools have a reputation for excellence, children and adults enjoy community activities such as the Halloween parade and 4th of July fireworks, and shopping and dining are plentiful.

Vienna is home to some of my favorite restaurants.  Maple Ave Restaurant is as delicious as it is small and Bazin’s on Church offers contemporary American food with over 400 wines on the menu for perfect pairing.

Just down the road you will find Lebanese Taverna, a favorite of our Lebanese friends, Maggiano’s Little Italy, great for group family-style dinners, and Costal Flats, one of The Great American Restaurants and consistently delicious.

There is no lack of shopping in Vienna.  Historic Church Street is home to many artistic shops including The Artful Gift Shop, Applegate Gallery & Custom Framing, The Clock Shop of Vienna, Maverick Mosaics and Star’s Beads.  The perfect gift can also be found at Pear Tree Cottage and bargains are plentiful at Consignment Boutique and REfind.

Maple Avenue offers the neighborhood grocery stores, pharmacies and banks including Fresh Market, Whole Foods, Giant, CVS and Bank of America.  With miles of stores and restaurants there are endless shopping and dining opportunities.

Less than one mile away is the recently expanded TysonsCornerCenter and the upscale Tysons Galleria.  Tysons Corner Center is home to over 300 specialty and department stores making it the 6th largest shopping center in the country.  Tysons Galleria is a destination in itself which is why the Ritz-Carlton is attached to the middle level of the mall.  With department stores Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, and specialty stores including Versace, Louis Vuitton, and Gucci, it is easy to consider Tysons Galleria the 5th Avenue of Virginia.

Westwood Country Club offers a par 71 golf course, covered and indoor climate-controlled Deco-Turf tennis courts, an Olympic–size pool, 2,700 square foot fitness center, and dining at The Grill Room, The Rotunda, or The Westwood Pub.  Most importantly, there is a Kids Club, so parents can enjoy all the adult club has to offer.

Wolf Trap is a National Park for the Performing Arts.  Whether you prefer pop or classical, dance or opera, there is something for everyone during the performance season.  For those who live in Vienna, it isn’t summer until they have picnicked on the Wolf Trap lawn with a glass of wine and good music.  There is also Wolf Trap Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods where children can enjoy music, dance, puppetry, and storytelling from late June to mid August.

The Meadowlark Botanical Gardens are a sight to be seen.  While this is a beautiful spring and summer destination, you can stroll through an illuminated garden of lights in the winter months as well.  It’s perfect for a date night or a fun place for the kids to explore. In addition, there are special programs for children at CampGrow during the summer.

Vienna offers many enriching classes for children and adults.  To learn about current offerings, check out the Vienna website.
