The Custis Trail and Mount Vernon Trail are easily accessible from Rosslyn and are among the most popular trails in the D.C. area.  Mount Vernon is an 18 mile trail that runs from Theodore Roosevelt Island down to George Washington’s Estate at Mount Vernon.

A favorite tourist attraction in the area is the almost 90 acre Theodore Roosevelt Island Park located off of George Washington Memorial Parkway.  It has miles of trails through wooded uplands and swampy bottomlands that honor the legacy of a great outdoorsman and conservationist. To preserve its serenity, no bicycles or vehicles are allowed on the island. It is only accessible via a footbridge from Rosslyn.
