Northern Virginia Locals Nationally Recognized as Child Abuse Prevention Allies

April is National Child Abuse Prevention month, and on April 1st, six individuals from Northern Virginia were recognized by SCAN as Allies in Prevention. SCAN stand for “Stop Child Abuse Now” and was established almost 30 years ago to meet the needs of children and families in Northern Virginia. SCAN aims to end child abuse and neglect by informing the public on the signs and symptoms of abuse as well as ways to help stop it. SCAN stresses the importance of a strong bond between parents and children in raising well-adjusted children. The organization also works within the judicial system to help secure the physical, emotional, and mental rights of children, while ensuring they remain in safe and loving homes. (more…)
